Happy Thursday, everybody! I am in shock that the school year is almost over. My junior year will be completed at the end of this month, and let me tell you, I’m ecstatic. Don’t get me wrong… I love school! I enjoy the atmosphere, the students, the teachers, and the fact that I’m receiving a good education, but your girl is ready for some summer sun. For this week’s blog, I wanted to do something a little different. I have very unique music taste; I love so many genres. However, Christian Rock is definitely in my top three genres of music. So, here is a list of some of my favorite bands!
1. Flyleaf: Flyleaf is a talented group of musicians who bring God’s word and amazing guitar riffs together. I have always appreciated Lacey Sturm’s (former lead singer) vulnerability and authenticity in the lyrics that she writes. She truly has a heart for God and for people. She also has a unique voice. At one moment, she will be singing so sweetly, and the next, she’s screaming. It’s pretty awesome.
2. Skillet: Skillet has been in the music business for quite some time, and they are still so active in making new music. Lead singer, John Cooper, has a powerful, gravelly voice that compliments Seth Morrison’s guitar skills so well. Jen Ledger truly knows how to play the drums and crushes it in every song. Korey Cooper is a talented keyboardist and guitarist. Her riffs are impeccable and she rocks harder than anyone. I love Skillet’s honest and empowering lyrics. They also play great live!
3. Switchfoot: Switchfoot is one of the first Christian Rock bands I discovered and I fell in love with them. Everything from vocals to instruments is impeccable. Jon Foreman is one of the most talented singers I’ve heard. These San Diego natives play a softer rock, with unique guitar tunes. You can find a good balance of slower songs and upbeat songs with this group. I had the opportunity to see them live a few years back, and it was a delightful show.
Thank you for tuning into this week’s post! I pray safety and health over each and every one of you. Until next time!
